We have a visitor in our Milldam field a Corncrake has been heard these last few nights . Lovely to see that our farming practice is working well around the farm . 

6th July 15 Our visitor Mr Corncrake is still with us here at Hilton as we are hearing him in the daytime as well as evenings / nightime .  

Animals are at last all out in the feilds enjoying there summer freedom . 

 Lots of rain been here in Orkney  most of our animals are still inside as yet due to the weather conditions but hopefully it will dry up soon to get them out into the fields . The barley is growing good and was in by good time .

Season so far we have had lots of lovely guests happy with there stay and enjoyed the peacefull location  still very good value for money at £75.00 bed and breakfast 2 people sharing a room .

Orcas have been seen again this season going up the local shipping lane which we look out onto here at Hilton Farmhouse .

The Milldam bird Reserve has lots of birds to see and enjoy watching from the first class watch point .

Shapinsay local crafts to see and buy at the local Heritage Centre also  the Smithy cafe is open for coffees light lunches ,meals / takeaways etc 

Anyone looking into there family tree of Shapinsay the Hertage centre has lots of information held  there. 

The Smithy cafe is open in the summer months for light lunches , teas coffes etc . Also for takeaways and sit in meals .( May - Sept )

Smithy cafe and local museum will be open 7th May 2016

Hen Harriers male and females are being seen most days around Shapinsay.

Update news on the 25th May 2010 a family of 4 Orcas were seen off the shores off Shapinsay and we uploaded photos to our gallery page hope you enjoy them , have always wanted to see them and now I can say I have .

A great way to relax and unwind from the daily hustle and bustle of life. Spring time or Sept/Oct is a great time for Bird life etc around Shapinsay an Island Tour Package is a good way of seeing and exploring Shapinsay with a very good deal for an all inclusive Dinner Bed and Breakfast For 2 nights.

A SNOWY OWL HAS BEEN SEEN A FEW TIMES NOW FLYING ROUND SHAPINSAY AS HEN HARRIERS ARE NOW A REGULAR SIGHTING.
